I have spoken about giving back and while big companies get a lot of press for making sizeable donations to charities, small businesses count too. As a small business involved in a charity, you may never see your company's name in the newspaper and you won't be top of the list in dollars raised. That's okay. Hopefully that isn't why you and your company get involved with a charity.
Believe it or not, Tour for Kids came to me through a pop-up banner when I was noodling around on the computer. I looked into it and thought it was a good charity. Each ride only reinforces that. It is one of the few charities that gives 100% of its donations to the cause and as we hit the 10th anniversary, I can proudly say that this charity has given $25 million to support children and teens with cancer.
I haven't hit my personal goal of $5,000 yet but I am still working on it. If you are reading this and want to make a difference, you can make a donation at http://tinyurl.com/otoyyb6
Each year about 1,700 kids in Canada are diagnosed with cancer. You can ride (next year, because this year is sold out), you can donate, you can make a difference. Be thankful for what you have and get that lint out of your navel!
