We get older; maybe go to university or college. Some people party their way through and others work hard for their marks. Still we wonder when we will be done.
The other thing we think about is whether or not we will use ANY of what we learn. Adults can’t even tell us for sure if we will need what they are pushing us to master.
Finally, we reach an age of enlightenment. Education has suddenly become a good thing. I, for one, can’t get enough. I am constantly reading books on business, finance, travel and more. Mundane or esoteric, I embrace them all.
But will I use what I am learning now? Some of the books I read provide interesting information that is useful for chitchat, but not much more. That I don’t mind, however. It is not the destination for me, but the journey.
Everything I learn, relevant or not to my business, broadens my world and therefore, it is useful. I see so many kids right now counting the days to their freedom from the structure and discipline of school. The future, for many, is more structure and discipline. Or not so much, If they decide to be their own boss.
In a future article, I will let you know about some people who decided to become their own bosses. The ones that stand out for one reason or another. And I will talk more about education, in the class and in the world.
