Branding is important, and consistent branding even more so. When you dabble in so many forms of social media, it is important to keep your look consistent enough that people will recognize your brand across these platforms.
Your logo is a good place to start. It should be clean, simple and recognizable. Not too simple, however. You want people to know you put some thought into it. You have (or should have) a logo that says something about what your company does. If you don’t, people won’t build that immediate connection between you and the service you provide. Your logo should be your stamp of recognition.
What else will connect your company across all facets of your presence? Colour and font face are two that come to mind. And you don’t have to have brilliantly bold colours and a custom-designed typeface either. There are so many fonts available that the problem isn’t finding a unique one, just the one that most clearly relates to your business.
Some people might argue that your logo doesn’t have to directly represent what you do and they may be right. Think of the Nike swoosh. Now you know it is Nike but in its first use, people had no way of connecting the “squiggle” with the company name. It took time and a very large sum of money to create that brand identification. I am guessing that you, like me, don’t have an overabundance of either.
An easy test of compatibility is to split your screen and open up each social media application you employ. Once you see them side by side, you can tell whether or not you are on the right track. Of course, as always, Giraffe Graphics can help you with your professional look. If you need a complete redesign, or just a little polish, we are here for you.
