I think with the advent of CASL, there may be an increase in telephone marketers again. Unless you have call display, is it harder to track callers down as well.
I had an interesting conversation with someone from a private college offering various courses for “quick” certification. After about the fifth phone call in as many weeks and reiterating that I wasn’t interested, the caller slipped up and mentioned that no one asked to be taken off the list. The light bulb went on. “Okay, I said. Take. Me. Off. Your. List.” “Oh, okay,” was the answer. ”It will take a while though.”
Fine. As long as my number is gone from their list. However, it is really annoying and I consider it a bad business practice to make it that difficult to be removed from a list. The lesson here is that I have shared this information and if anyone asks me in person where the call came from, I will tell them. I won’t print it here as a courtesy to the company; something they didn’t afford me.
When you are telemarketing for your business, please remember this story. That college has blackened its name without any help from me, just by operating their business poorly. It makes me wonder what else they do poorly. Keep that in mind because you don’t want the same said about your company.
