I think perhaps that I was wrong. Just because someone starts something, be it a project or a company, doesn’t mean that others won’t be just as invested in its success. And a vision is no good if it isn’t shared. How can anyone else possibly be a part of something great if you won’t let them in?
I wrote earlier this month about my new business venture as a franchise owner with Velofix (www.velofix.com) . This has turned out to be my “go big” moment. Not only is the company reaching across Canada,we need to have at least one employee to get operating. The best thing about having an employee is that the person we hired does in fact share our vision. I spent so many years thinking no one else could share my vision about Giraffe Graphics and we are fortunate enough to have someone working with us at Velofix who embodies that very spirit.
I talk often about recognizing opportunities in many unexpected places. I now realize that having employees at Giraffe Graphics could be a good thing. It would allow me to continue doing what I love and yet still build the business the way I want it to be built. I have hesitated many times, but now that I have taken one leap, the next one won’t be so hard.
As the saying goes, “watch this space.”
