I like driving the bus. Maybe that is because I am somewhat of a type A personality but, probably, it is because I am inextricably tied to all my business ventures. With each company, my face is there. I can’t duck responsibility, nor do I want to. Sure, if there are kudos to be had, I am right there. On the other hand, if there is blame to be apportioned, I am there too. I have to be front and centre for good and bad situations simply because I made that choice.
There are many people who will never drive the bus. They are the followers, not the innovators. That’s okay too because I can only imagine that nothing would get done if it were only egos.
So does driving the bus make me intolerable? I hope not. My drive is for the success of my business, but not at the expense of everything else, including relationships. Success doesn’t happen by inertia; it happens by action. My action is to get in the driver’s seat and steer my own path. What about you?
