I am going to be taking part in a 400 km charity bike ride the middle of August and yesterday was my first 20 km ride. Shame on me for letting it go so long.
The same is true in business. If you don’t keep your mind tuned up and tuned in to trends and practices, do you know what will happen? The same thing that will happen if I don’t step up my training for my bike ride. You and I will get left behind. Maybe it is metaphorically for me, because a sweep bus would pick me up, but in business, it is all too true.
If you don’t stay in the knowledge loop, you will get left behind. Clients, and potential clients, will feel that you don’t know the latest and greatest in business. There is always someone else around the corner to take your place if you fall behind.
I don’t want to sound like doom and gloom here because it isn’t inevitable. The business of running a business involves networking, reading, and analyzing what is happening in your industry.
I am getting back on my bicycle again tomorrow so I can keep up. Shouldn’t you do the same?
